The HDM-EV85 is an 8.4 inch LCD monitor for HDTVs (SDTVs option). The active LCD area has a 1024 x 768 resolution, and displays 16.77 million colors by having 8 bits per RGB. The HDM-EV85 has HD analog video input terminal (Y, PB, Pr) and the high-resolution HDTV signal can display on the LCD. Because it is half the size of a 4U, users can place two HDM-EV85s side by side when rack mounting.

Design

The HDM-EV85 took over the HDM-EV80D's sophisticated design, which is a upper-grade 8.4 inch HD monitor. The HDM-EV85's operation functions are placed on the front panel. The HDM-EV85 has two functions per one button, thus allowing making convenient button sizes. For outside shooting, cable connector protection guard was added.

Features

An important feature of the HDM-EV85 is that the monitor can take the HD analog signal from HD camcorder. Also, up to two analog composite inputs (NTSC/PAL) can be added to the monitor as option. The HDM-EV85 power unit is compatible with the HDV camcorder's 7.2V battery..

Other features of the HDM-EV80D include the following functions:

- Image output similar to CRT: Using the same technology as our HDM-EV30D, it is optimized to display CRT-like images on an LCD.
- Color Temperature Controls: 6500K and 9300K. The user may easily change the color temperature.
- A wide variety of marker indicators: Center marker that indicates the center of screen, framing marker that indicates screen size (four types of TVs, two types of film), and a safety marker which indicates the safety area. The safety marker, between the ranges of 70 to 90 percent, can change within a 2 percent step; therefore, it can function as a production tool other than as a safety marker.
- Aspect ratio function: When images are recorded using a lens that optically expands or contracts, the recorded digital image is also distorted, and cannot be displayed correctly on an ordinary monitor. The HDM-EV85 uses the aspect ratio function to correctly display the recorded original image.
- Gamma Correction Function: In recent years, there have been many cases where images shot with a camera have a special gamma setting. In this case, the ordinary (gamma) = 2.2 monitoring cannot properly display the darkness, and is difficult to see. The HDM-EV85 uses its gamma correction function, and can lighten the image so that it facilitates the monitoring process.
- 180 Degree Rotation Display: If, for any reason, the user wants to use the operation panel above the screen, the unit can be rotated 180 degrees. The function allows the screen to also rotate 180 degrees.
